| i wanted some opinion on the value of a hand like AA93 rainbow iv always been told to play these hands agressivly preflop but my prob is getting away from them on the flop after commiting alot of money. and iv faired much better playin a hand like 7d10sJdQs agro so i was just curious what what ppl think about a hand that contains a big pair vs. a hand with dbl suited conecting cards. |

| Hands like AA93 rainbow are very overrated and stand to get you into a lot of trouble if you don't play them carefully. You have an edge over most hands head-up, but once it gets multi-way you are drawing. If you are quite sure you can get head-up with someone who you feel confident doesn't have a better AA hand, and you are willing to take the fluctuations, you can play this hand very aggressively. The problem is that many times you are able to get all your money in pre-flop or on the flop with AA93, you will be doing so against a better hand. Also, when you are very aggressive with this hand before the flop, you are often announcing your hand to your opponents but you don't know what they hold. You may want to play this hand like a drawing hand and see if you can flop three Aces and if not, get ready to fold, especially against more than one opponent. That way you can save money the many times you are beat and when you do flop three Aces, most players won't put you on that hand. |

I dig thisa post and so I am going to answer this even tho Omaha isnt my game (yet ) because I agree with what both of you are just about saying here. When I see this game played about the onlyhand that you see raised are hands with Kings and Aces and usually when both are double suited which I would much rather have then a pair but aside from my personal wishes................
A hand with Aces is pretty tough to beat heads up, I mean think about it, if you make that one good big bet who can really call you? It looks more to me of a blind stealing hand than anything else if you play it in that manner tho, I personally will wait to hit the A or like I said I would want at least one of my aces suited and then put a little pressure on early hoping that someone else has the flush draw and will come with me when I make the flush later.
Its a pretty unsual hand aces-rainbow if you think about it and I dont know who gave you the adice but honestly it isnt good advice, I am sure that Mark would agree having even AK both suited would be a much better hand in most situations, in fact I am going to hit the hand analyzer now that you brought this up and lets see what it says. _________________ poker_pro

Nah I just checked it to make sure at cardplayer.com, they have an Omaha hand analyser, what happened to the two dimes version does anyone know? Anyway 2Aces with 2 rainbow cards even like 2 together is a big loser against hands either 2 suited with 3 cards close in order or a BIG loser to a hand like JQK-whatever rainbow even, so ahain heads up with the aces for protection you have a good shot but if your opponent hits his type of hand ie, middle straight cards, or his color/suit you are in pretty deep but against 1 guy I may like the aces in a blind all in preflop horserace but believe me its pretty damned close and you wouldnt be ahead by much. _________________ poker_pro
